"Modern Vintage" Introducing Thomas O'Brien at Bloomingdale's

August 2007, New York, NY... For over a decade, Thomas O'Brien has been one of the design industry's best known modern tastemakers - - an "early influencer", in 21st century terms, who has helped bring about an acceptance of historical modernism in the public at large.

Now O'Brien opens new doors with his next big take on modernism with his latest furniture group with Hickory Chair. The collection represents a return to a classic point of view that's tied up intrinsically with what O'Brien's own moniker has come to signify in the design marketplace: modernism with a soft vintage bent; luxury that's not off-putting; an unusual affinity for woodworking and fitting details that nod to a long tradition of fine furniture making.

"Thomas O'Brien is an exciting, young designer who has a real solid understanding of today's casual-contemporary lifestyle," said Joe Laneve, Senior Vice President & General Merchandising Manager, Home Furnishings. "We believe his tremendous design sensibility captures the updated eclectic mix of new and old that fits perfectly with our customers way of life."

O'Brien will introduce his line with Hickory Chair at Bloomingdale's in August, updated with an exclusive dark walnut, "Tiago" finish and exclusive fabrics for the upholstered furniture. The collection will be available at select Bloomingdale's stores across the country including: New York 59th Street, Aventura, Bergen County, Medinah Home & Furniture, Oakbrook Home & Furniture, Chesnut Hill, White Plains, White Flint, Tyson?s Corner, King of Prussia, Las Vegas, Roosevelt Field Gallery and Chevy Chase.

O'Brien will also bring his exclusive lines of tableware and home accessories with Reed & Barton to Bloomingdale's first in September. His "Fine Casual" philosophy, defined as a way to live with exceptional design on an easy, everyday basis, comes through in his four distinct collections: Marielle--the "Fine Classic"; Tilden Lace--the "Elegant Modern"; Elissa--the "Heirloom Classic"; and Tiago--the "Elegant Casual". Barware and accessories, including frames, trays and vases, bring the elegance of classic materials like silverplate, crystal, glass, wood, and lacquer into the rest of the home.

Thomas O'Brien for Reed and Barton will be available in select Bloomingdale's stores across the country including: New York 59th Street, Aventura, Bergen County, Boca Raton, Medinah Home & Furniture, Miami, Old Orchard, Oakbrook Home & Furniture, Chesnut Hill, Chevy Chase, White Plains, White Flint, King of Prussia, Las Vegas, San Diego, San Francisco, Sherman Oaks, South Coast Plaza and Stanford.
