Bloomingdale?s Fall Fashion 2007 ?Chic Revival?

Fall 2007, New York, NY?Radical changes are in order this fall 2007 in fashion. Taking a refreshing departure from Bohemian ruffles and girly moods of past seasons, Bloomingdale?s is ushering in a new approach to the way we dress. A strong assertive woman that personifies a put-together, polished statement defines the new look. Look for a long, lean silhouette punctuated with brilliant color, lots of accessories, graphic prints and shapes. Start with a hat, the perfect pair of gloves, and a piece or two of statement making jewelry and cinch everything with a belt and Voila! ? The new look emerges. There is no time like the present to enjoy a ?Chic Revival.?

Bloomingdale?s recommends the following must-haves for Fall 2007:

The coat is making a statement this season. Whether it is a cape, egg-shaped, belted, or in bold colors, a coat is fundamental to the fall wardrobe. Bloomingdale?s favors red when choosing a bold hue. Details like ? quarter or short sleeves, as well as stand up collars accentuate the chic look. Patent leather trims and large buttons are also trends for fall.

The shift dress this season is fitted, with a great emphasis on the waistline. A belted and streamlined shift dress highlights the waist as the new focal point: a trend that hasn?t happened in years. For the younger customer, there is a short mod shift and a fitted jumper dress that should be worn with a crisp white shirt or a turtleneck.

White shirts should be worn, not only with a jumper, but also with menswear trousers and knee-length skirts. The shirt has menswear details with variations to give it a feminine look. When worn against a neutral palette of black or grey, it will stand out fantastically!

Trousers that start at the waistline in either full length or cropped, are the perfect option when seeking sophisticated confidence in your style. Wearing a belt with the trousers is a must; the belt defines the waistline, which is the pivotal trend of this season. The trousers worn in a neutral palette of black, grey, or winter white will look fabulous with a white shirt.

The Skinny pant craze continues this season, but with Jodhpur details. Knee patches and fullness at the thighs with narrow bottoms give this classic trend a facelift. Pair it off with a leather vest, or a structured blazer for a daytime look, and with a beret and a clutch for the evening.

An A-line Knee-length skirt pays homage to the tailored look of this season, and is a novelty from the fitted miniskirts of the past. Like trousers, these skirts will start at the waist to give it a ladylike elegance.

The resurgence of the matching suits marks an era of new emerging fashion. These suits are best in dark colors and tweeds, and for the younger set, in bright colors. Suits paired off fedoras and bold belts flirt with traditional menswear trends, while suits paired off with berets and Mary Janes introduce a fresh, effortless take on a fashion classic.

Knits come in four main styles this season: tunic, turtleneck, sweater coat and chunky pullover. Lush, oversized sweater coats and chunky pullovers are great alternatives to capes or egg-shaped coats, and can be belted. Lighter knit pieces like the tunic and turtleneck are great for a sleeker look, and will come in fitted silhouettes.

Animal prints like leopard, zebra and cheetah that correlate to the ?Call of the Wild? theme are key trends in accessories. When choosing an animal print for apparel, Bloomingdale?s suggests choosing one print piece and wearing it with solids or neutrals. For a versatile leather piece, bomber jackets are the chicest this season. Other leather jacket styles are tough and rugged or edgy and sexy.

A pop of color is seen throughout the season not just in ready-to-wear, but also in berets, scarves, belts, clutches and gloves! Saturated jewel tones create the palette for fall, evoking the imagery of sunlight coming through a stain glass window. Be sure to accent a neutral outfit with a color accessory!

High-tech shine. Patent leather, metallic tones and shiny accessories on the runway give a futuristic rendering of what otherwise would be a classic blazer or an elegant little black dress.

Graphic prints are mostly seen on jersey knits, dresses and sweaters, and should be paired with colorful berets and pendants that are trendy this season.

Covered legs are still chic! Neutral colors like grey and beige are introduced as trends for leggings and tights this season, and so is texture. Bloomingdale?s suggests wearing neutral or textured tights with belted tunics and shift dresses.

The most important trend of the season is the attention to accessories. Accessories are details to an outfit that complete it. Popular hat styles are the cloche, beret and fedora. For shoes, it?s Mary Janes, oxfords and booties. Be sure to wear bold pendants, and bracelets in multiples. Gloves glamorize an outfit within seconds, and scarves add personality to a look.

The belt and the clutch are two accessories that dominate the season. The belt is worn to highlight the return of the waist in fashion, and to change proportions of the body. The ultimate handbag is the clutch. The big bag from last season is packed away and replaced with a clutch or a lady-like handbag in animal prints, patent leather and textured fabrics.

The makeup this season focuses on red lips, arched eyebrows and matte faces. The hair is coifed back and neat, unlike the tousled, windblown styles before.

Embracing impeccable tailoring and faultless grooming, along with coordinating accessories that are fundamental to the completion of the ?Chic Revival? look, now is the time to welcome head-to-toe chic.
