Turner Classic Movies Makes Merry Holiday Deal with Bloomingdale?s
Turner Classic Movies (TCM) cable network and Bloomingdale?s department stores announced today a merchandising deal to sell a new line of upscale movie-themed giftware in time for the 2005 holiday season. The merchandise includes coffee mugs, glassware, and a cocktail serving tray ? all designed with classic movie photo images and famous phrases. There are also ceramic dessert and canap? plates, coasters, and pocket mirrors designed with vintage movie poster art. The line will be carried in all 28 Bloomingdale?s stores with home divisions on November 9th in New York and the week following elsewhere. Bloomingdale?s will showcase the collection in classic movie-themed ?mini-shops? at the 59th Street Flagship location in Manhattan, and in Sherman Oaks and Century City near Los Angeles. Customers will also be able to see and purchase the merchandise nationwide through the Bloomingdale?s holiday catalogue to be released on December 3rd.
?We wanted to find a compatible retail brand that could share our enthusiasm for classic movie glamour mixed with a sense of humor,? said Katherine Evans, senior vice president for marketing and enterprises at TCM. ?We?re very excited about working with Bloomingdale?s to offer this special collection ? and the Bloomingdale?s 2005 holiday catalogue theme, Imagine, is a terrific fit for movie-themed gift-giving,? Evans said.
?We are pleased to be a part of this project with Turner Classic Movies,? said Michelle Israel, Bloomingdale?s Divisional Merchandise Manager. ?This tie-in has the perfect combination of whimsy and customer appeal that Bloomingdale?s loves.?
In addition to the merchandise available through Bloomingdale?s stores and holiday catalogue, TCM will offer an expanded collection of classic movie-themed merchandise via a re-designed, more easily navigated shopping portal, ?TCM Boutique,? on the network?s website. The expanded line of TCM merchandise will include a wall calendar designed with vintage movie posters from classic Hollywood musicals, stationery items, TCM-branded apparel, the Turner Classic Movies Edition of Scene-It??, the movie trivia DVD board game, and other specialty items. The full TCM collection will be accessible via www.turnerclassicmovies.com beginning today. Selected items from the collection will also be available at other fine retailers nationwide.
