DANIEL BOULUD KITCHEN LAUNCHES AT BLOOMINGDALE'S

New York, New York, October 2005...Bloomingdale's is proud to launch Daniel Boulud Kitchen (DBK) with a personal appearance by the four star chef on Thursday, October 20th at the flagship 59th Street store. The DBK line includes the second generation of his sleek stainless steel cookware, two distinct lines of professional quality knives as well as custom spice blends and spice racks.

The new DBK cookware is the first stainless steel cookware collection to incorporate three different core materials: carbon steel, copper and aluminum. Different pieces in the collection are made with different metal core materials to maximize the cookware?s performance. With Boulud's unique approach, each metal core material is matched to the specific use of the pot or pan. An elegant insignia on the handle identifies the core metal used in each piece of cookware. The entire collection's magnetic stainless steel exterior is made for use on all cooktop surfaces including induction and in all oven types. The cookware's easy-to-clean, finely brushed stainless steel interior is stain resistant and dishwasher safe. The textured stay-cool handles are designed with ideal arcs for easy lifting and a sure grip.
New to the chef's collections are two distinct lines of professional quality knives, one with black resin handles and another with hollow stainless steel handles. While the former has a weight and feel similar to traditional kitchen knives, the latter is designed for its light weight appeal. Both have the same sleek aesthetic that set DBK knives apart so distinctively when they were first introduced. The angled knife block with its standout high tech flair is constructed in black resin and brushed stainless steel and has become the DBK brand's signature design feature.
The chef's most eagerly awaited innovation is his collection of spice blends, spice rubs and finishing touch seasonings. "I am turning my attention to the needs of the home cook by translating over 30 years of experience in my restaurants into high performance kitchenware and spice blends conceived purely with your home kitchen in mind", explains Boulud. Each one represents a veritable Daniel Boulud recipe in a jar, enabling you to add the chef's expertise, and above all distinctive flavor, to your home cooked meals simply and quickly. "I have edited your entire spice shelf for you," explains Boulud. The seventeen items, the result of a great collaboration between the chef and the spice blender, contain close to two hundred ingredients that would be nearly impossible for the home cook to keep on hand. While the chef would not dream of divulging the ingredients, suffice it to say that finding just the right sweetly smoked paprika for the BBQ mix or intensely perfumed dried mushroom flakes for the pasta mix posed challenges for the spice blender. From the Limon Amoni rub to the Mediterranean Style Lamb Seasoning, each jar comes with a wonderfully simple recipe by Boulud, the next best thing to having the chef there with you to get a head start on dinner.
Daniel Boulud Kitchen will be available at Bloomingdale's 59th Street, Medinah Home + Furniture store in Chicago and the Las Vegas Home + Furniture store. DBK cookware is sold in open stock and in a ten piece combination master set. Suggested retail prices for open stock pieces begin at $69.99. The ten piece set is sold from $399. DBK cutlery is sold as a 17 piece set for $299. A selection of twelve spice blends in a sleek steel seasoning rack with revolving wood base is $59.99. They are also available in open stock for $7.99 each.
