Bloomingdale?s B Magazine Wins Top Custom Publishing Award
B Magazine, Bloomingdale?s quarterly, custom published lifestyle magazine produced by John Brown Publishing, came away with over twenty awards at the inaugural Magnum Opus Awards for Outstanding Achievement in Corporate and Custom Publishing.
Publications Management, the only magazine for the custom publishing industry, and the Missouri School of Journalism present the Magnum Opus Awards jointly. The judges for the awards are a cross section of top executives in the areas of marketing, writing, design and custom publishing.
With only one issue of the magazine to enter, the debut Fall 2003 issue with Kim Cattrall on the cover, B magazine swept the board with a total of twenty awards for design and editorial excellence. Foremost was the Grand Award for a Custom Magazine aimed at an external audience, judged on various commercial criterion including design, creative execution, content and brand awareness. B magazine also won the Gold Awards for Best Feature Design, Best Interview, Best Photography and Best Typography.
?B Magazine reflects our unique brand position in the marketplace with a comprehensive and engaging guide to the seasons best... neither a catalog nor magalog, B is a real magazine with sharp, of the moment features, and sophisticated design that shows Bloomingdale?s understands fashion, its customers and their lifestyle,? said Tony Spring, Bloomingdale?s Executive Vice President. ?The awards and recognition are a reflection of the tremendous effort by the Bloomingdale?s team to make this project something truly special for our customers,? continued Spring.
?I am delighted that the custom publishing industry has, so quickly, recognized the editorial and design quality of B magazine. The magazine is getting better and better and we look forward to continuing our winning relationship with Bloomingdale's,? said Duncan Milne of John Brown Publishing.
Background: B?s Editor in Chief is George Epaminondas. B has a print run of 300,000 and is sent to Bloomingdale?s top rewards members four times a year. Copies are also available for purchase in Bloomingdale?s stores nationwide with a cover price of $3.95.
